New Owner experiences the Ultima Effect??
Discussion
So there i was last Saturday, having received my GTR a few days earlier it was time for a trip longer than round the ring road
Having covered approx 100miles trouble free a whining noise came from behind my ear and the temp guage shot up rather quickly. Upon pulling over a cloud of steam greeted me, following a while later by an AA truck
Sure enough the water pump had died, and i seem to only be able to get one from the US, order placed so we wait, still plenty of time to polish it i suppose...
Photos to follow as soon as it gets back out of the garage...

Shame that your early experience should be tainted by a misshap such as this but hello and welcome. I now it is of little consolation but I only got to cover 400 miles before catasrophy struck and after 3 months and £1500, I am now back on the road.
On a seperate note, I am rather surprised that you were unable to find something as simple as a water pump for your motor here in Blighty?, should have asked on here first. Good luck and out of interest, are you going to Stoneleigh on Sunday?

Thanks, i hope to be in the road for this weekend, but depends if the new pump arrives in time. I required an Edelbrock 8810 hi vol short nose, found some non-branded pumps here in UK but not Edelbrock stuff.
Not much good now but there is a firm called Repower in Lancing that is a main stockist for Edelbrock and I would put money on it that Brian ( the proprioter ) would have the part that you required on the shelf.

A brief list:
Gerabox problem; Dog ring came un fixed from fourth gear causing the gear cluster to lock and make selecting first and second gear impossible. Rectified fault which I was told by an independant source that if anything, it was the gear manufacturers fault and not down to the builder. Also had steel synchro rings fitted whilst we were in there.
New clutch; Had to slip clutch to get home in third and wrecked it as a result. NOTE TO SELF; In the advent of any type of mechanical problem, get towed home and evaluate, do not carry on regardless doing whatever it takes!
Hydraulic release bearing seized; No definative answer been given on this one but the supplier is saying that the fluid should be of a lesser quality, NOT Dot 5 like I used?
Master cylinder; Changed to AP with remote resevoir for easier toping up and to replace original Girling just in case reason above.
Few days of work to get gearbox up to my man Neil and then re-assemble it all and PRESTO! £1500
