I am just wondering if anyone has done this,

any pictures of how its been done,i.e where its been put??

Im thinking of carpeting on top of the sound proofing and maybe on the alloy sides, but dont know where to start.

Piece of cake. Seen mine?

Take out the seats, cover the steel floor in a sound deadening material rubber/foam/rubber sandwich - loads of companies out there. I've got loads left that you can have for £20. I found the floor to be the noisiest component in the cab.Make sure you cut the deadening material well away from the runners as the seat will only catch on the carpet once covered. (See pic)

I fitted foam in all ali cavities but that is a bit too late for you. You can cover the footwell floor and sides with thin self adhesive rubber then carpet the whole lot. do it in sections and make sure any joints are well butted or overlaped so as not to get caught on egress.

I decided to go up the sides and over the top as I'm allergic to ali polish !! SteveD's is the best execution that I've seen.

A trimmed interior is chalk and cheese for a few quid and a 10kg or so.

Good luck:

do you think it makes a big difference?? It looks to me that something on the bulkhead would make a big difference.

My bulkhead has:

Engine - air - polish - gelcoat - fibreglass - adhesive - foil - 3mm foam - 1mm rubber - adhesive - foil - 3mm foam - 1mm rubber - adhesive - carpet - air - me!!

It has reduced NVH dramatically but you still feel part of the car and the V8 is still all there!!

Ive gone for it too. i really want that 'quality' sound in the car..
I went for the woolies stuff in between the floor panels, and then got some mat from 'Noisekiller'
is a sticky backed mat which is sound deadening and then has a heat resistant foil. total thickness is about 3mm! Its made a huge difference when just tapping the panel, but im only building still so no idea how it will be on the road.

I also have loads left!

fyi here's my topic form earlier...

No, wanted the roll cage to give that 'clubsport look'. Also, IMHO,boxing in the rollcage can make it quite claustrophobic behind the head.

All that stuff I fitted, goes in just.

Cheers

See my web site for pics of boxing-in the roll cage.
I've also put sound matt on all the skins and carpeted.

I use ear plugs to get the quality sound.

I used dynamat everywhere. I also expoxied nuts into the seat runners to make it easier to fit the seats.... and epoxied spacers under the seat runners so they wont catch.

Here's some shots (with the old steering wheel)

Hi guys Im still in build so I can't say if this has helped but here goes.
Sem makes a product called rigid urethane foam part # 39997 I came on to this stuff in an article about trying to stiffen up chassis by filling enclosed voids with this stuff. I thought this might be a bit of ... until I found out that Lexas and Infinity use this in thier products. I bought a tube and injected into the void between the two aluminum sheets on the bulkhead. That area is now absoultley dead when its struck. I also injected it into the floor panels same result. Its a pain to work with you have to drill holes to inject it and its exspensive. I like what I see so far. I made a mistake on my shift cable and had to pull it back out of the bulkhead after the foam was in and I can tell you that stuff is really really tuff. No promises but I think its a quality product. Lee

We had a very enlightening debate about this some time ago with a very friendly and helpful fellow from Texas.....

Hi again on this subject. I see what the fellow in Texas is saying but remember that the SEM product is built to be used in enclosed car panels on unibody design. Certainly the good folks at SEM and Lexas thought of these issues before using the product. Again, this is not a home product, lord knows, after building a home in California with the energy laws we have here I know exactly what the other product is like. Lee
