I was looking at the used market because of the posts about the unknown costs of building an Ultima and I was wondering is it possible to change from right hand driver to left hand driver? Yes it would be an undertaking – that I am aware of: replacing the dash, change location of shifter and pedals, replace front suspension pieces and replace the front firewall. An I missing something as I have never seen an Ultima in person.
Made easier if you went for a central shift car...... the main things would be the pedals and the steering column then as the rack, seat, shifter clocks (if factory) etc would be in the same place.
Beaware though that the chasis is slightly different under the dash and you would need to do some welding under there... What I'd do is cut the dash out and rebond it back in afterwards.
You may also need to change the Wiper mechanism.

Depends on the car. Dash would be simpler with central speedo & tacho. Pedal box would need moving. Clutch line would need re-running or exstending. Front bulkhead would need changing. Gear selector would be OK with a centre shift. No suspension or steering components would need renewing, just swapped over. You would need to access the steering column brackets though!
Not a simple job but achievable.
On the point of unknown costs. To sit down and put a realistic budget together would take about an hour. All you need to do is know which options you need to complete the car. All the components are listed and all have prices next to them. I can't understand why people seem to think there is a big whole that appears part way through.
I did go over budget on my first car but only because I chose too. There were no unknowns lirking. Budget for twin tanks, budget for A/C, budget for a wing, budget for factory wheels & tyres, have the mould lines buffed out. All these bits are listed. Allow a realistic amount for an AS engine. Any parts you source for less are a bonus. I know some who have made big savings by shopping around through the classified ads. Don't budget for those saving though.
