carpet adhesive

For those of you that have put carpet on the floor inside the passenger compartment + luggage bins, what type of adhesive did you use? I wanted something that would hold but not so well that I could rip it out if it ever needed to be replaced.

I've just used aerosol upholstery adhesive, nothing special, from our local car parts outlet (Halfords).

I have recently lined just the luggage bins. Did not use carpet but some material obtained at kitcar show. In black and a little like seat cover. It was attached with Velcro with strips running full length and at the corner of each of the bends in the metal. I did try self adhesive velcro but was not strong enough so bonded it to the material and containers with contact adhesive. It worked well but I wish I had done it before I had finished seal covers etc, its a challenge to do afterwards.

Woolies trim sell "invisible" carpet fasteners that work like pop-studs, but can't be seen when the carpet is in place...

I ended up using contact cement on the side pods + black indoor-outdoor carpet. It's pretty much basement carpet with a rubber backing. For the floor I used industrial strength self adhesive Velcro. The adhesive was great in sticking to the floor but the Velcro was so strong it ripped the Velcro from the back of the carpet. I went ahead and used the contact cement to attach the carpet to the Velcro and everything is great now. I even managed to do the floor in one piece.
