I have had my Ultima GTR for a couple of weeks now and im so pleased with it!!

I bought it off Pete Cummings and it seems well put together, i went to Norfolk in it last weekend to watch the 750 Motor club racing at Snetterton and it did not miss a beat. It even managed 20mpg on the return journey. I have had some quick cars but this is in a different world!!!!!

So i am just basically introducing myself to you all, i hope to meet some of you in the near future.

1 question what are they like on track??, i have had a V8 Westie 270bhp and i was fine in that but the GTR is another world??

Hey Kyle,
Great to hear. I'm 50/50 about getting one myself, not sure whether to build or just buy... Off to the factory opening day next month as well.

Keep posting here with how the car goes plus any little niggles, I'm very keen to hear a balanced view.

How powerful is your engine?

It is 550bhp with a six speed, my only niggle so far is i cant quite get comfortable as the pedals seem so offset!! i need to adjust the seat angle, i think it could be because i have a centre gear change.

Hi Kyle & Russell,

Sounds like we now have three members of the Shropshire Ultima Owner's Club ! woohoo

I picked mine up from Ultima (who did the SVA & nuts and bolts checks) on Friday. Drove back in the rain but the car was perfect. Ultima had "rain ex'd" the windscreen so I didn't use the wipers much. Put another 40 miles on it late Sunday in the dry - that acceleration is something else !! Still not "floored it" yet - just building up my confidence in the car.

Kyle, you mention your pedals are offset ? Mine is a centre change too and the pedals seem perfect. We can do a comparison when we meet up (with Russell too - and anyone else ?). Whitchurch sounds like a central meeting place for an Ultima gathering. As you mentioned, we just need a dry day without any censored rain !

Catch you soon (hopefully !)

Regards

Tony.

Hi Kyle - I live in Stoke-on-Trent, just had a wonderful track day at Oulton Park. It was dry in the morning but it poured down in the afternoon.

What fun going around the track in the rain (mostly sideways). These cars handle so well - went around Druids several times at a 45% angle all the way around (I am glad I was wearing brown trousers!!).

If you would like to know more about track days in a Ultima, give me a call or email me.

Cheers Martin.

Hi Tony and everyone else

I have spoken to Tony a few times and we are planning a meeting somewhere in Shropshire in the near future?? It looks as if there could be potentially 5 of us, if anyone else in the same proximity wants to join us we will plan a day soon??

How awesome would that be with 5 or more of us on some pub car park!!!!??

Hi Kyle,

Yes, let's arrange to meet up at a nice pub with a large car park. The Shroppie Fly is a little tight to get in and out of, but there must be another nice pub close to you ?

You are right by the way, the Ultima is such a great head-turner when you are out and about. I got mobbed at the petrol station yesterday afternoon, was there half an hour talking about the car. Video phones out everywhere. No nasty comments / resentment either, especially when you say it's a kit and especially when you let the kids sit in it for a photo too. smile

Will have a dry run over to yours at the weekend as soon as the weather picks up. On a related note, weather for tomorrow looks good - I'll be at work in mine tomorrow ! Driving in the Vectra Diesel has lost it's charm all of a sudden ... I wonder why ...

Regards

Tony.
