Cleaning engines in situ?

The GTR is starting to get a bit grubby from it's packed agenda of late, trackdays and highspeed runs have taken their toll.

What do people use to clean the block from molton rubber, oil spashes and general ground in road grime...

......or do I just bring it to the Factory in it's hardcore unwashed state?

Take it to the factory as is, and show everyone what an Ultima is meant to look like after it's been used properly

I used spray gunk to get rid of oil splashes etc, then carefully washed it off. the rest of it I just clean with a rag and some general cleaner. Problem is one damp day and its dirty again... as long as the outside is clean tho...

I’ve found that steam cleaning is the easiest way to clean an engine compartment. I’ll cover the intake and electronic boxes with plastic then a minute or two with a steam spray will yield nice results.
