headlight to tyre clearance?

I noticed while poking around up at stoneleigh that several of the ultima's had scuffed the back of the headlight bucket with the wheel - just wondering if any of you gents could tell me what the clearance distance is between the tyre and the back of the light bucket when the wheels are in the straight ahead position?

I've been working on the front end of my own design today, fitting the hella 90mm units in in CAD, realised it wouldn't quite get through the SVA so made some adjustments... at which point all was fine providing I drilled a large hole through the front tyres and fitted the lights in there

One complete redesign later and I'm still not sure if I've got enough clearance! Thank feck I decided to do this in CAD first is all I can say...

Can't help soz mate. But when you do find a solution, give the factory a call. I eyeballed the Factory 'modded' pods on Sunday....and guess what??? They touch too!!

I'm reckoning I'll make the front end about, oh, 3 ft longer...

That is tyre to the point that will just rub.
Mine have been ground back progressively until they don't rub any more.
The light is about in line with the inside edge of the tyre so it must be the outside edge that rubs.

camber, caster and probably most importantly scrub radius will affect this clearance.
there is a silver and blue car in the for sale section states that changing the scrub radius helped

Look at Pagani Zonda for inspiration on how to possibly solve the problem.

I thought the same thing Andy, but was trying to keep them within the boundary's of the wing. Solved it in the end by making the front of the car 30mm longer than originally planned - now have 90mm clearance and my fingers crossed
