Technical tyre question.

I have goodyear 225/45/16s on the front. Its the "standard" setup on the older cars.
My goodyears need replacing and wanted to get the Kumho's. But.... you cant buy a V70 Kumho that size.

So, question is could / should I fit 245/45/16's to my existing fronts instead of 225/45/16. They are 8 inch wide rims. I will ask the factory the same question. They should fit the rims, but are there any other problems?

Otherwise, who knows the "grippyest " 225/45/16's?

Hello Paul, how are you? As nobody has answered your question I will impart what I know on the subject;
If you increase the width of the tyre and do not reduce the aspect ratio the overall height of the tyre will increase and an amount of sidewall flex may be experienced. I would not think the proposed small increment being considered will cause a problem but it is also worth bearing in mind that different make tyres of the same technical width and ratio can behave individually and so for that reason in conjunction with my original statement, I myself would get the exact same size tyre but with a softer compound. Have you looked at Toyo's or Yokahama? I would research it for you but I have just remembered that I have left a candle burning

Thanks for this mate. I think it needs to be TOYO or Yokos as the wider Kumhos might bring on the dreaded "light box rubbing effect" on full lock. Factory agrees.
PS: I don't understand the other comments? did I miss something? What happened to the GTW.............

It has all gone a bit too dark on the GTW front, even for my liking! All will be revealed ( at some point in the not to distant future I hope ).

Have you had engine problems Wayne? My 434 is being built at the moment same spec as yours... Anything I should look out for???
