Car is a 6-71 blown destroked 427 with approx 13psi boost, should be ok to 7k, but isn't yet properly set up yet, esp the carbs. When settled it is supposed to give a genuine 650 hp [how often do we hear that?] but as yet hasn't got anywhere near that on its one dyno run. However, I will be disappointed if I don't hit 180, conditions permitting, and would love to see higher, as we all would. It is geared for considerably higher but don't know if the power is there yet. There have been so many engineering disappointments with this car that I probably should keep my mouth shut to avoid embarrassment, too late now though. Hope to see one and all tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Well guys, nice to meet you, just disappointed that the cylinder head gasket let go after 4 runs. The car was still pulling well with 180 on the clocks, but the apparently short braking area caused me to chicken out on the 2 runs I had by lifting before the traps, so I think I only saw a 157, yet to be confirmed. Still at least the damage has been done at the right time of year, still a bugger though.

Well done for having a go Tim. You know the score with these things, it is a long road but early indications sound good, 'power to the people!' ( well, to YOU actually ) wink

Well done Thevet
sorry to hear about the gasket expirey

I like the rear clip mod, i always thought that the a canam should have a manifold sticking out of the rear clip like the following

maybe it would work with the GTR as well

best of luck next time

I wanted the covers to be removeable to make cleaning the inside of the light pod easier as it was virtually impossible to keep clean or to get clean once dirty. The covers seal by sitting against a soft rubber strip, which works reasonably well.
As for the scoop on the rar clip, it is only a functional mock-up which I'm not convinced has the right shape yet, but unlike the "hillborn-type" scoops, at least maintains some of the line of the original. Still looking at a GTW copy, but haven't decided yet, as getting the head gasket sorted is now top of the list.

Ooops, I have a daughter who was in the car for that trip and thought she'd like a video of her own.....brat! "I didn't think it had loaded" she said, and she is not 17, as claimed on the site. Unfortunately, my engine is seriously fried, I will try to post some pics of the rather sad remnants of the pistons and heads soon. Still, i saw over 180 on the clock and it was as steady as any other car I have driven.

Yesthe engine was brand new, ans my builder is not pleased that i didn't get the carbs set up 1st on a rolling road, but "we can rebuild him" and hopefully after 180 on only 7 cylinders, next year will see a full V8 symphony set a few markers. Maybe I should be a little quieter until something is achieved.

Hi Chris, EFI is unfortunately unaffordable at the moment, just getting the car reliable and achieving some of my performance targets is my main aim for next year, then who knows.
