Thanks Steve time for a search through the old postings. Little bit of engineering ignorance here. Do you get a a pressure build up on the crank side when you have breathers on on rocker covers, assume preesure different in various parts of engine. Would a PCV also reduce the amount of oil being pushed pass the pistons rings and reduce bore wash?

Do you have the factory breather system with a pipe from each rocker cover to a catch tank and one or two breather pipes from there down the back venting to atmosphere?If you do then the simple mod is to blank off one of the exits from the catch tank. To the other fit 50mm of hose with a PCV valve stuck in the top. Run a hose from the PCV valve (usually smaller diameter) to the vacuum fitting at the base of your carb.
What you are doing is pulling manifold vacuum on the crank case and sucking the fumes out. The amount of vacuum is a function of throttle position and engine load.
Some very expert engine builders have experimented with this to the next level and claim that in race or drag engines a vacuum pump can show significant HP gains.
At our level the most significant gain is keeping the oil where it belongs.
