Trackdays

Obviously you need a safety helmet for trackdays but can it be an open face job or has it got to be a full face, and what safety standard does it have to be, somebody mentioned it needs a blue label on it, and not the yellow, I thought it was a case of being able to stick my motorbike helmet on but it doesnt seem to be. Can anybody help out, cheers.

I have seen a number of open face helmets in use at trackdays. I seem to remember a debate on this forum years back, it seems to be down to preference only. As for any standard, not too sure other than I have never seen any checks made but I am sure someone will tell you. Have you looked at any of the blurb on a trackday site for reference?

Open face is fine for a closed cockpit vehicle. But closed face are sooo much more flattering, if like me, you have hamster chops!!

Open face will be easier to communicate with a pass/instruct. Also slightly better visability.
