Automatic choke
Discussion
Can anyone help please.
I have just changed the engine in my GTR and the new one has a auto choke (the old engine had a manual choke).
It obviously needs a cable attaching to the spade terminal on the carb - where does this cable go to?
On the wiring diagram it does show a cable in the loom for the choke, but I cannot find it.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin.

I have the electric choke and it starts a lot lot better. kick the pedal after 30 secs & the revs drop to 1,000 rpm and settles when warm to 800 rpm.
Its nice & smooth & doesnt cut out (unlike when I didnt have a cheke fitted). Horses for courses but mines a lot better with one for me.

.....just give two pumps of the throttle pedal, starts, then feather the throttle for a min then off we go...
My neighbours love me for this!!When I had a new carb fitted I did say 'what about an electric choke' but he wouldn't fit it and chucked it!!!

Electric choke works fine on mine.

I had no issues with the electric choke. In fact I would recomend it for daily driving. I was convinced to ditch it by the masses and the only change I've noticed is that I swear alot when starting at 5am in the morning, attepting to keep the thing quiet.Steve
Going HP Holley now. Hmmm......
If you can start a car in the cold without a choke and it runs fine then it will be rich when at operating temperature. It is true that the choke limits airflow to the front 2 venturis.
The wire for the choke should go to any 12 volt source that is hot when the ignition is in the start and run position.
