Problem with the Ultima speedo.

The speed part of the (VDO white Ultima) speedo works fine, its the LCD mile display. Its blanked out. It happened once before but returned - with the correct miles still. Try all the usual - connections etc. Anyone had a problem like this? I sent it away once to have it fixed and they couldnt find any fault - put it back in and it worked! argh!! Anyone know where to get it fixed - or how to fix it?
Had similar experience – ended up gently warming the whole gauge for a couple of days on a radiator – the board inside is vulnerable to moisture and general damp conditions but takes a while to develop a problem as it’s the solder that seems to corrode to short things out - usually starts with an intermittent fluctuation of the digits especially from start up! Then it can go completely out – but as you say the Speedo needle still functions okay..
Used a company once called speedy cables – www.speedycables.com. Most helpful and satisfactory service - they can repair most gauges and were quick with their turn round (week to 10 days)
