A/C Hoses and Sticy Stuff

Perhaps this has been covered before, but, if your A/C isn't working too well...

So I am told by the A/C experts, the sticky stuff and temp sensor is on the wrong pipe/hose in the photo from the build manual. They should be on the suction (large) hose. And, any exposed metal will drip condensation and should get tape wrap to prevent wet feet.

Yep I got mine from car builder solutions and there info clearly shows it on the top pipe as you pointed out

Do you mean that just the sticky black stuff should be wrapped around the top pipe, or should the copper coil "sensor" also be attached to the large pipe before wrapping?

Both should be on the suction (large) line according to the experts. Above edited for clarity.

I will now have to check mine....

Are we saying the factory piccys are wrong? ow many of us does this affect?

Following my topic yesterday 'V8 UCA an update' I have checked mine and yes it's on the wrong pipe, anyone tell me where I can get some more of the 'sticky stuff'

From the Factory, FOC if your concerns are founded???

Anyone asked them about this 'issue'?

Mine is as per the picture but has performed to my satisfaction for 4 years now.

You can get the "sticky stuff" from any A/C shop. It's not expensive (maybe a quid per foot?). The shop tech said all metal parts should be covered, or expect damp toes.

Have been told by the factory that the above is correct, but it will work on either connection. However, it may work better as indicated above.

My sensor was on the smaller pipe. I moved it to the bigger pipe as suggested in the picture by Scott. It definitely works better. Be sure to insulate both pipes with the sticky black stuff.

BTW, the sticky black stuff is a material comprised of cork and tar mixture.
