I ordered my GTR on June 18, so anxiously awaiting news from the factory. Meanwhile, prepping the shop for winter car work.
I have heard of a GTR in Toronto for sale. Finished in April, 3000kms, 7 litre LS1, $160,000CDN. I have not been able to reach the person though. There is supposed to be another GTR and a Sports on TO area also.

Completed cars:
Jay Esterer has one in Alberta, there is apparently another one in Vancouver - I was given the name and email address of the owner and have not had a response back as yet. I an in Alberta also and will be placing my order as soon as one of my Porsches is sold, hopefully by the fall.

In my jurisdiction, I was advised by several replica AC Cobra owners that the local police department - theft recovery vehicle department - issue a VIN for the car once it is completed. No formal inspection is required and you register it like any other vehicle with the requisite proof of ownership and insurance coverage at your local registry office.

wow thats is great to hear.
im about 3 years away from getting the kit car package too. i was going to build up my 240sx cause i just the damn car so much. but i found this car and frankly 50K canadian from what i understand gets me somethign amazing if i can build it up myself (not a prblem what i do all day) so i will be using this car as a track fun car (n/a mild power nothing crazy unreliable) and will save for a gtr. in quebec i know kit cars are problem to register but i will look into it when i get a chance. as for insurance if you dont mind me asking how much do you guys pay? im 20 no accidents and first driver on my current car.

I am planning on $80k CDN, and I'm probably optimistic with that number. Insuring a "kit car" in Ontario can be extremely expensive. Basically, the insured rate is based on the appraised value of the vehicle - for $80K, the rate was roughly $5000CDN per year. It will be 3 years before mine is running, so I hope to see some changes in the insurance system by that time.

Hmmm i was hopeing i could do a GTR for $50,000. I work at a NAPA store so i'll try to get as many part's as possible at work. I hope it dosn't end up costing 80K+...

Based on how much it cost my friend to build his (Approx $120,000) $50,000 sounds very optimistic. Import duties, shipping and PST on the appraised value all adds up! The low mileage used engine in his wasn't even that expensive even including mods ($10,000). If you are willing to fabricate lots of parts yourself and go for a lower spec car you could probably save quite a bit but not $70,000

To anyone building an Ultima in Canada I have a kennedy engineering Adapter plate and flywheel for an LS1/LS6 to G50/52 gearbox. Also a set of new 235/35 Pirelli tires. Send me an email if interested.

I am looking at $50k USD just to purchase the kit. This doesn't include engine, trany etc.
