Some Q's... !!!

If he is asking about stall in the converter then he is thinking it is an auto 'box.
As he has absolutly no idea what you are using this engine for then I would have nothing to do with him.
If you must use a US supplier then talk to Jeff.
What about UK builders like Peter Knight or Boosted?
There are so many things specific to the way an engine needs to work in an Ultima that you either have to know all these things yourself and write a clear specification or use someone who already knows what an Ult needs and will only question how much you are prepared to spend.

To be fair to the guy - those are only 4 of the 20 odd questions he's asked about my requirements.
This is the main reason for working with someone that has experience with an Ultima engine "package" (presuming you are building an Ultima). If you don't, you will end up educating them on the entire setup. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because you end up educating yourself along the way. However, the factory (and other "Ultima-experienced" engine suppliers found on this board) supply a very complete package and you still get the education without the pain (and pleasure) of discovering what you need. This translates into time and money saved in research, returning products that don't work, and reordering.Your biggest challenge when dealing with a US engine builder is convincing him you do not want bucket loads of torque and that you do want an engine producing lots of revs. The reasons are quite simply that you are trying to pull away in a car probably a third of the weight he is used to.
