I'm finally making reasonable progress - is there a preferred/easy way to bend the tabs on the floor section around the pedals? Do most people simply put in a vice with wood either side and bend, or use a dedicated sheet metal bender or what?

Cheers

Hi I did mine between two pieces of steel, they were placed along the line on the edge you are bending and fixed to the bench(ends and middle), this will give you a straight edge plus stop the panel from bending, then use a mallet and a piece of wood gently tap until required shape, hope this helps?

I am not going to bend mine - I am going to cut the panel by a further 20mm and use some pieces of 20mm box section aluminium underneath. I think this will look neater (IMHO) - I saw this idea on another builder's website ( I can't remember which one at the moment)

The only problem with not bending the sheet is that you will be left with an exposed edge of ali. Whilst you may deburr it nicely it will still wreck the heels of your shoes. (Waits for reference to high heels, hairdressers etc.).

Anyway if you want to bend the tabs you clamp the sheet between those lengths of tube supplied in your kit for that very purpose. Ultima may say they are for setting the suspension ride height but that is just to throw you off the scent.
