1) What would be the effect of NOT having a duct moulded in?
2) Is the under bonnet air pressure significant enough to warrant the expense?
3) Would a simple meshed grill cut into the bonnet (like on the rear clip) more or less achieve the same effect as the duct?
4) Does the standard 350 SBC suffer from significant oil surge in 'spirited' road driving conditions?
5) Is the accusump option actually any good?
6) Is there a universally acknowledged 'better' wet sump pan than the original?

thotfast will testify ( he does not have one on his Sport )2) It is a positive addition but not essential for a road car and the benefit would only be noticed on the track IMO
3) No, the path from the grill mouth through the bonnet vent as found on the GTR/CanAm is ducted with the idea to reduce frontal resistance and push the front of the car down
4) It can do depending on the sump used but normal road use will not usually cause a problem
5) The Accusump, if fitted and working correctly, is a good half way house
6) Just use a sump with the largest capacity you can fit that is well baffled and has trap doors if possible
It has just occurred to me that you most certainly could do no worse than discuss your situation with Paul ( s
thotfast ) and I am sure he will have the answers to many of your questions, good luck Edited by GTWayne on Saturday 22 March 16:40

I'm putting together an unfinished Spyder - I have no previous Ultima / SBC experience, so please bear with me while I ask all the stupid questions that I have in my head!
At present I have a Carbon Fibre nose, but it does not have the central bonnet duct like all the other cars I've seen. I don't really want the expense of sending the nose off to a CF workshop to have the duct fitted, so I ask...

Also, I'm torn between fitting the traditional Spyder wing, or one simlar to that used on the Can-Am. Again, any opinions?

1) I dont have the duct - I think it looks cleaner IMO - but also - If you drive a spyder WITH the duct - in winter you get 120 deg hot air in your face! good news, but in the summer in traffic and the fans come on - you get 120 deg hot air in your face! not good news! (although not sure if Scotland has a summer (tee heee)
2) no. You should get greater down force as the front is so flat, and less drag.
3) put a ali barrier between the area with the battery and rack and the rad. The hot air then flows away to each frontwheel. I do not get any overheating issues.
Wing - got to be the spyder wing! Told you this before - You no rissen cookie boy!

Thanks chaps... I will defo be going down the original wing route if I can 'do' the roll-hoops.
Was moving the wing the other day... it's a heavy bugger!
And as its a real wing it needs fully bonding to the rear bodywork - not something you want to come off at 160mph!Was moving the wing the other day... it's a heavy bugger!
Mine is bonded and bolted and glass fibred

PS - any opinions on the Viper engine? Or is that a dirty word round these parts?
Not an opinion as such more a question. Why?It will not be as readily available as say an SBC.
Spares and performance improvements will not be as available or cheap.
So why would I want one?
