Okay, I have to admit that I am not very mechanically minded, so when I have problems with my GTR, I usually have to ask, so I am asking. . .

Shifting seems to be getting more and more difficult. Unless the car is rolling, sometimes I can't get into first or second, and I often cannot get into reverse. The trick has become to put it into reverse before I turn the car on. I have to do this in the garage or my parking space at work. This can't be good for the car. I brought it into the local shop that has done previous work on the car. My thought was that the fluid level in the transmission needed to be checked. They figured that the only way to check the level would be to drain it and refill it, is that accurate? Second, they wanted to bleed the clutch. What fluid does the clutch master cylinder use? Neither of these items were completed as I needed the car back because I am still a car short at home.

I drove the car hard for about 150 miles on Friday, and returned with oil covering the rear clip. There is always a little mess back there, but I usually atribute that to average road grime. This time though, it was pretty much dripping in oil. I checked the fluid level, and I was down about 1 quart. I just recently replaced the valve cover gasket and the head gasket, and nothing appears to be coming from that area. There is what appears to be a minor leak from the PCV valves on the valve covers. Any ideas?

Thanks, I'll try to post pics and any other information on my blog in the next day or so.

Yes the only way to do the transmission level would be to drain and refil.

Unlikely to be that though. More likely the clutch and a bleed would be the first move.

I'll try bleeding the clutch first. In case I need it, what fluid is used in the clutch master cylinder?

It seems to get harder to shift the warmer the car is. I usually have little or no trouble in the morning pulling it out of the garage, but later in the day, it seems to give me more problems.

I have Dot 5.1 in mine as that is what came with the AP brakes.
It does depend what clutch you are using. I think it was Dot 5 that melted Wayne's clutch seals but that was the type with the internal actuator.

If your car has a rod gear change it may be worth checking the adjustment on that. They can be quite sensitive to adjustment. (There is an adjuster thread about 3/4 of the way back)
