Just fitted a road carb - yippee!!
Discussion
Recently fitted a new double pumper and whilst it was better than the old one, it is still a bit of a fuel-puking horror. Good when you've really on it but rubbish off idle etc. So prior to doing the EFI bit I thought it would be a cheap experiment to put on a bog standard vacuum secondary road carb. (street avenger).
Fantastic transformation !!!!! smooth smooth smooth acceleration, and almost like a proper car around town.
Top Gear circuit Tuesday, see whats it's like when full on.
Next step will be to add PCV and see if the silly oil consumption is improved.

I'm sure people specify "double pumpers" because they sound cool, without actually understanding how it works and what its appropriate for. Whereas vacuum secondaries ensure they only open when they are required, so when you are pootling around town - you only use the primaries and therefore your inlet velocity is kept high and thus promoting better fuel atomisation.
So that's two carbs you have bought in two months!
What, with the spare Demon I gave you, I make that a total of three spare carbs you have lying around

Great news that it has improved low speed drivability, though.
ETA, I have another spare Holley 750, should you need one!!
