Tim Adams

I was just wondering if anyone has used Tim Adams for an Ultima engine, he is very local to me and has an awesome reputation in the racing circles. He is expensive i believe and very busy but he has agreed to check my 377 SBC over and dyno it for me.

I have never heard of him but this does not mean that he should not be considered. I had Knight Racing Services build my engine and to be honest, I only learned of his reputation after I had already commissioned him to carry out the build. I based my choice on speaking with Peter and the fact that he seemed honest, ( which he most certainly is ), and he exuded experience, knowledge had sensible suggestions and was keen for me not to spend my money on 'shiny bits', but bits that gave a performance advantage first and foremost, luckily, most said parts were actually shiny as well!

Hate to play devil's advocate, but for all his reputation/knowledge it's not exactly been an easy ride though has it!

I like pushing the boundaries as well.... i have spoken to several engine builders and they said why do you want an ali block and a compression like that? I spoke to Tim and he said no problem i will sort it for you, apparently ali blocks need to be set up slightly differently.

Not an Ultima build, but Tim built my engine for the Tuscan [aka tvrolet] - small block 383 stroker. Did a great job and real helpful with the options. Not sure about the 'expensive' bit; he gave me lots of choices of where to save some cash, and advised what parts it was better spending money on. Also managed to 'trade in' some Chevy parts I had for items more suitable for my build i.e. I had a dual plane manifold but he had in running better on the dyno with a single plane, so we did a trade.

Also happy to give advice on the phone once I had it in the car. Top bloke. Only thing is he's always pretty busy so I'd guess there will be a waiting list to get work done, but once the build started on mine he had it turned around real quick.

If you do go with him, tell him I recommended him Might be some small recompence for all the queries he's had to put up with from me.

Lovely installation that! If I were to have another Tiv (have had 3 in the past) I'd be tempted to have a yank V8 - though would probably go LSx than SBC

Hi I couldn't recommend Tim enough and i think the fact he builds race winning engines for some of the top canam/historics including GT40s March Lola t70 etc proves his skills. Its worth visiting just to see an all alloy normally aspirated big block doing 800+ BHP. he helped built a 406 SBC for my T70 replica and couldn't have been more knowlegable & helpful if you can get him to do you an engine you will not be dissapointed and for the experience he has (and power he achieves!!) his prices are very reasonable.

yep.... he is very helpful. Can am Dave seems quite impressed with him as well. He has also helped Tony with his GTR so he is getting quite a little Ultima fan club.

He is building a lovely 427 small block which he was hoping will make 700bhp, he takes a lot of pride in his work.... good to see

Yes, been seeing Tim about a slight engine "hiccup". First and second impressions are that he is a very knowledgeable and respected engine supplier and tuner and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Great guy with great skills and a really great attitude, he cares about what he does. Identified my long running issue very quickly. And as stig mentioned, not expensive.

Anyone with engine enquiries around the Shropshire / Market Drayton area should give him a bell.

Big thumbs up to L Owens in Trench (Shropshire) too - I never knew we have so many experts hidden away in the Shropshire area ! Nice, nice people to know, total confidence.

I have been working on my 377 sbc at Mr A's all week.....

what a top bloke and an awesome setup, i would 100% recommend him to anyone who wants a SBC or LS building, he is a perfectionist and nothing leaves his workshop without being spot on!!

He has been dynoing a 412 cuin SBC on kinsler today, it is going in a thundersaloon Sierra it has not made the power he was expecting so instead of bulling the figures he is investigating why and fixing it.

Please, if you are looking for a quality engine give him a bell but it may be a long wait
