G50 gearbox positions

Hi,

I have a G50 gearbox going in a GT40 replica but I'm finding it hard to work out the gear positions.

Have you found the reverse?? If you have it in neutral and the twist the axle you can twist it one possition to the left and one to the right. Correct? If you twist it HARDER to one of the side locks you will pass a "lock" and find the reverse. From that it's easy to find the rest by the pattern on your picture. I had the same question a few years back

(sorry that I can't help you with more precis direction, my own transaxle is mirrored to yours)

Go back a few pages as this came up recently.
I gave a description then of all the gear positions when viewed at the selector shaft.

Describing it at the selector shaft is the only way we can help as we dont know if your linkage reverses any of the motions.

It may help if you find the 'box model code stamped on the flange as for all we/you know it may be a six speed.

1 fully in 1st plane, what gear is this



2 middle position 1st plane is this neutral?



3 fully out 1st plane what gear is this?



4 middle position then clockwise then fully out what gear is this

Just spent 15 minutes going back through old posts to find the info I posted back on June 1st only to find it was in reply to exactly the same question from you.

Sorry you feel as you do, no offense meant, it's just I didn’t understand your explanation. I tend to see things in pictures hence a different attempt to get an answer to a problem I am struggling with.

I’m sure if you think about it there may be times when you have had to be told things more than one way before you fully understood.
