BMW v10 Ultima
Discussion
Hi there
Has anyone fitted a BMW M5/M6 v10 into an Ultima on here? I see this company m-racing (http://www.m-racing.info/motoren.php) in germany offer both BMW v8 and v10's and as I am looking to build an Ultima in the coming months I am trying to decide what engine would be best in the car.
I'd like it if the car sounded like this

Any ideas how easy the BMW v10 would be to fit and would it be possible to fit the car with the paddle shift gearbox? If so would you advise this or stick with a manual box?
Thanks
Trev

Hey Trev,
After owning this engine and recently selling it I think you are on to a real winner there. As for fitting it to an Ultima it wouldn't be a problem. They really are a fantastic package. The would be very little fabrication for this install.
Good boy, a blue sky thinker, looking outside the box. not another sheep with a boat anchor!!!!

Yeah theres something about a V10 that I have always liked. V8's make a great sound and are tried and tested in the ultima but I reckon a V10 would be a little more interesting project. Anyone got any ideas of cost for a BMW v10 and do you think the paddleshift box would be a good idea?
Also looking at some videos of the way the Ultimas go through the gears I'd imagine using a paddle shift box would make driving at speed a bit easier and quicker and I'd guess that the v10 has a higher rev range than the v8 allowing you to hold the gears for longer. Any thoughts?
Also what would be the weight difference between a v10 and the v8?

Hi there
Can you tell me what gearbox and transaxle would be used in a bmw v10 conversion and what else would be needed? I found a company in Germany that offer a v10 GTR so I have emailed them to see if I can get some specifics on how their car is put together and what they use.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Checked out the site and found some very good solutions to strengthen the chassis. The noise of the V12, what a sound!Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
