Stop / Tail Lights for SVA
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
I am fitting the rear lights to my car. I have 4 Stop/Tail lights, 2 Indicators, a Fog Lamp and a Reversing Lamp.
I was going to position the lamps as follows:
4 Stop/Tail in the inboard positions
2 Indicators outboard
Fog and Reverse behind the grill next to the gearbox
All my lights are the same design (the LED ones from Kit Car Solutions), so I can interchange easily.
Questions:
Will the Stop/Tail Lights be OK in this position (I seem to recall there may be an SVA issue..)
Is it OK to have Fog and Reverse lamps behind the rear grill or will I need an cutout?
The SVA manual specifies heights of lights, viewing angles etc, but I can't find anything about lights behind grills....
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers, Mart

The stop and tails are OK as you can have as many as you like. Only one set have to meet the position and viewing specs.
The fog in the grill must meet the viewing angles but it will then be down to the tester to decide if the light level (150 candelas min) has been reduced too much. For reference a stop light has to be 80 candelas. It must also have a minimum separation of 100mm from a stop lamp.
