The black ultima on classifieds on here still not sold.Is the ressesion that bad or should i beg the wife to re mortgage and offer very very low price.Just moved home and brought a wreck of a house needing everything doin last week but that dont half look nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Changing the subject who brought the blue accident damaged early spyder for sale some months ago.I rang the owner recently and he said it was sold?
in my opinion, i don't think a second hand Ultima is the way to go.
we are here to build and drive our own car, otherwise we might as well go and buy a TVR.
the building and personalisation of the car is a huge part of Ultima ownership and i don't foresee ever selling it and hopefully will hand it over to my son when my hips or eyesight go!

The same people have also been wasting my time as i have tried to sell mine as well. I have now decided to keep mine and do some further mods to make it more to my liking.

I admire the sentiment, but circumstances can change and 'toys' are usually the things to go.we are here to build and drive our own car, otherwise we might as well go and buy a TVR.

Additionally, there's actually quite sizeable section of Ultima owners who have no interest in building the car. They're easily overlooked as they're not likely to post here for starters!

PS. If I were to have another (which is more than likely

I have always had the notion that its a dam site harder to go to work ,pay your tax,keep the wife sweet along the way and afford to pay someone else to build your car.I always remember going to a jaguar show and asking how much it would cost to restore an s,type jag.The kind advice given by a restorer was to go and buy the best one in the show and save yourself all the hardwork and save a rake of cash as well.

I'm one of those lazy coasters. Those Ultima devotees that have not built their own car because of time and aptitude. I have experts fettle with mine so it's 100% when I want to drive it and that's fine with me. It's been 110% reliable. In fact it's been more reliable than the 996 turbo I had before. For that matter so was the Griff but I know which one I enjoy more...

no - well, not yet at least!To put my comments into context (and they are a personal perspective obviously having built 2 Ultimas already), a great deal of the Ultima 'experience' is derived from the build - no question and I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Besides, there's no substitute for the knowledge you gain about the car when doing so (not to mention the ability to change things as you see fit if you're happy doing so).
But if you're not inclined to build, then buying a new factory built or used example makes sense.
Obviously buying used can save you a fair bit, but to me (on reflection), it probably wouldn't be that practical as I'd want to go LS and the excuse to write another website would be too strong to ignore

Probably, nothing negative though. If it sells fine, if not, fine, I will continue driving and modifying it. Not pressed for the cash but could do with the garage space.
The Great Plan was always to build an Ultima Xtreme but I wasn't prepared to commit to a sea of money and a years build on a car that I wasn't even allowed to test drive (factory take note), so this car was bought to see if the Ult and me were compatable, sort of a test bed. Turns out the Ultima and me can get along fine but the SBC/carb was intolerable, hence the LS7 conversion.
Had intended selling the house for one with serious garaging this summer but with the housing market turning into rats
t that will have to wait for the spring next year.Just for interest the LS 7 motor entirely lives up to expectations - just wonderful
