the real question the becomes at what power levle is an ultima NOT traction limited

F1 cars with there ~700HP are still traction limited at street speeds.

But it is exciting tho', you've got to admit as most of us do chase it to some extent. And when did you last see someone getting a sgging for aiming for a big number of ponies [that's what americans call horses I'm told]

I was glad to see there was a letter 'l' as the second letter in the censored section of the above quote

As noted elsewhere.... Chris Huntington's quadruple turbo, double supercharged, nitrous sucking, big block 1,000,000 HP monster motor of his dreams.

I guess the topic was "most powerful ultima on here" and not how much can an ultima handle...

I have 1007 SWEDISH HP in the engine at 1.15 bar boost. We have a saying in sweden that goes "the salt in the atlantic sucks 25% of the power out of every american engine during the transportation to europe" wink

But I'm not the top dog when it comes to HP figures.

Why do you ask Ivan? Are you intending to try and build the most powerful?

To be fair I tought the factory demonstrator at 450-500 seemed about right for an all-rounder. A lot more HP will need alot of respect on the street plus the extra inital expense, installation and possible running costs.
Many suppliers HP figures are adjusted(corrected)quite favourably, ............only good for pub talk.
For user friendy, longer lasting, genuine big HP figures go with a milder setup and a blower of some sort... quite good economy reported too! All the big numbers guys, 850-1050hp have gone that route.
If you just like cams, carbs, heads and hassle.........a wild SBC.
Otherwise a well prepped LS7!
HP isn't everything ....but we cant resist the subject ever now and then!

Are you doing the changeover yourself or getting a company to do it? Be interested to see the results.

When I ran my setup at 17psi earlier this year I reckon it was pushing out around 800BHP. My current setup is about 660BHP but with over 700lbs of torque. The torque of my setup makes the car so driveable and with the right ratios in the box it's a joy at any speed in any gear. With 460lbs available from only 1,600rpm. Only 2,000rpm at 70mph. The mid range acceleration has to be felt to be believed. To my peril I feel it's may be too fast for the public roads. I'ts all too easy to be at warp factor 10 in the blink of an eye! I'm waiting for a court summons to drop onto the mat any day now! I hope to do plenty of track work next year to really enjoy the car.

Take it easy out there!

Regards Dave
