Hi

I was just wondering if anyone running a LS would be kind enough to post some pics of the install. I want to do the converstion (SBC to LS) myself this Winter and want to get as much info as possible. I will try and get as many bits made locally as i can ie dry sump tank, engine mounts, trans mounting brackets etc etc. I think it is possible to run the the Ls with the Getrag 6 speed?? but will only run the Getrag if the ratios/final drive can be improved.

thanks Kyle

My initial impressions are that the bog-standard LS7 is such an easy driver that I'd be entirely happy with a four speed box!

Kyle,

I can take some snaps later this week. GD did a super job and the quality and attention to detail of all the one-off bits is superb. The airbox is a thing of joy and is bordering on the seriously hornyyes The headers and exhausts are also beautiful and give 98/99db so driving is now possible without ear ache! The trackday extension piece thingy gives 94db so it can be used at Goodwood and Bedford.. Yippeee!!!!!!!! how rare is that!

I believe that GD are going to market these bits at sensible prices. The only downside to buying from GD was that obviously as you would expect from an English company they ended up over budget and the time scale went to pot.

When I do my 427 install into a non ultima chassis I'm considering a GM 400. Old but plentiful and mega strong.

Boosted....yes indeed the O'll Chevy 400 block is a fantastic choice engine ..we use 2 bolt main block with billet splayed main cap conversion kit & ARP stud kit... add bloc-lok... to block & you've got a block that will handle 600/700 BHP easly.... on a budget...4340 stroker crank kits @ 427cid are priced as 350/383 kits....sweeeeet.. Cheers ! Dr,Dee

Kyle,

here`s some older pictures of my LS7 conversion (from LS6). The biggest change for your car will probably be the new fuel system with the magic box (down in the middle). As the LS7 uses a dry sump oil system I installed tank + oil cooler (second pic). The routing of the dry sump oil lines proved to quite tricky, there`s very little space between the LS7 and the fuel box (just enough).

Thanks .... wow its a lot tighter around the bulkhead!!

Im already running EFI and a Laminova oil cooler so that will make life a little easier.

Im sure i have seen some oil tanks placed where the accusump would normally be?? That makes more sense to me as that space will become free with the LS7.

My 377 cuin Ali blocked SBC EFI engine will soon be up for sale if anyone is interested. It only done 900 miles.

Don't know if it's of interest but this is the airbox that GD have made - seriously black and shiny in real life. Inside there is an enormous Corvette panel filter.

I'm sure that GD want to sell the airboxes - give Andy a bell.

The stainless headers are quite jolly as well - miles better than coated stuff. T70 silencers are handsome.

Stuart,

Did GD make the removable transmission cross member, or is it something you commisioned yourself? I remember one of the US owners doing something similar, seems a very logical alteration.

Looks like GD have done a very nice job there.
