Transparent rims?

Here is an Italian company that makes transparent rims for bikes and cars. Do you think they'd look cool on an Ultima? Yay or nay? I wonder how they'd hold up on a track...

Wheels are very "bling bling". Have doubts they respect homologation standards for road use not even thinking of track use. Have one or two wheels on their site which could be considered Ultima compatible.

lol, I take that as a "nay"

The design of the outer rim isn't so great, but what I was getting at is the interesting concept, being able to see the brake rotors and calipers in their full form.

Have a read of some of the comments I think they are no longer for public sale, the way they are describe refers to watch and jewellery making techniques ??

The thing that would concern me most apart from the terrible heat build up you would experience would be how these things would work under extreme loads or bumps, if you want to show off your brakes just get a simple 5 spoke design or cross spoke.

Don't they bolt to the hub through the centre?

Am I mistaken or aren't the "inserts" bolted to the outer rim as well as to the centre. So nothing at all like setting a diamond. More like shopping channel "diamonique" if you ask me!

It's probably just marketing propaganda. These rims are expensive because, well, it involved diamonds and stuff.

They will look dreadful when they start to get scratched and covered with brake dust. Much better on bikes.

Even if they were structurally sound and would stand up to the loads the car would put on them, the lack of openings for airflow concerns me. There is no brake cooling with no airflow through them. The brakes would get hotter than usual with only air behind the wheel and nowhere for it to go.

If thats the case let me rephrase it - good luck taking the rims off to clean it every 50 miles...
Take a look, they will look awful as soon as they get ANY brake dust on them.
It also intimates that these are really just show wheels ie, not really for road use at all.
(pretty obvious when you think how imractical they will be ).
