Bud, so given what you found what was the correction originally applied?
As already said though, and before AS bashing gathers momentum again, you do have to consider that after 3-4-5 years and several thousand miles, parts of the valve train may be well past their best......just normal fatigue on the highly stressed bits resulting in lost performance.
It appears to regularly be the case that high initial output NA SBC's soon go off peak and sometimes even fail.
IMHO anyone rebuilding their high HP, N/A SBC motor would be wise to focus most of their funds and time on the whole valve train. Every component from the cam right throught to the face of the valves! Then look after them carefully if you expect them to last.
If you cant or dont have the time/inclination then stick a blower of some sorts on it... or just go LS7!

In fact my "new" engine will be my actual motor with important improvements.
I'm not competent enough, either in engineering or english to explain it exactly.
But fortunately, I'm not only ten minutes far from the HTTT.
I'm also ten minutes far from ORECA (for performance parts), from Bullish Racing (competent for everything except engines and working for Alain Prost - Trophée Andros- or Ange Barde-Ferrari Challenge) and from Caldentey Engineering, one of the best US engines specialist in France.
For example, the bottom of my engine, sold new in 2003 by AS, is from 1979 !!! It will be changed for a "bow tie" (?) and upgraded to reach 580 hp at least.
By chance, I have competent guys around me and they give me some ideas and good advices.
Another example : they think an electric steering assistance could be mounted if wanted, using an Opel Corsa electric engine. That's what they do on their protos. Does someone allready tried that ?

Never found steering to be a problem. Yes, it is heavy at parking speeds but once under way it is fine.Steve
So I understand it could be better at parking speeds...and better too for certain tracks with hard cornering (Lédenon or Pole Mécanique d'Alès for examples).
It is easier and faster when you have one hand on the gear knob, one on the steering wheel, another one adjusting the mirror and one in the air vent to say hello to your girl(boy?)friend and the last one trying to close the ash tray you don't have in the car ...:-)
And all that for such a light expense !

Not for me, 452din hp or around 420hp on a Chevy LT5 motor with an official quote of 405hp and that's with 19,000 miles on it. 
(although I think the standard quote was with Corvette exhaust and emissions of which mine has neither).

by Techart, 2002 and 31500 kms, deemed to be at least 600 hp reached 643 hp...
Either this bench was optimistic (and that's worse fot the 430 hp of the Ultima) or the german
engineers have better results that announced...

there's a electro/mecanical one about I have seen used on some race cars, hardware is from a Rover of all things! (with bespoke electronics), they actually work really well, looking to fit one to the ProSport as the workload is quite high with slicks doing 3+ hour stints...Another example : they think an electric steering assistance could be mounted if wanted, using an Opel Corsa electric engine. That's what they do on their protos. Does someone allready tried that ?
they basically are made to replace the top section of the steering column.
