Fuel and Oil Hose - any favourites?

I'm getting to the stage where I have to put on my plumbing hat as I'm looking to measure up all the fuel and oil work that I need to do. Looking at the hose that is available I've come across the following.

Goodridge 811, 200 series
Aeroquip tfe, Starlite + Moquips equivalents
SpeedFlow 100 and 200 series
Earls Pro-lite,Auto-Flex and Perform-o-Flex
KronTec 6000\8000 series

Anyone have any particular favourites or thoughts on which way to go. I'm sure I read somewhere of the fuel vapour penetration problems with nitrile rubber cores etc.

I proved on my car that fuel permeated through my hoses so yes you need to choose a plastic or PTFE lined hose for the fuel.

Oil hose I would suggest you just find the cheapest combination of hose, the correct fittings for said hose and cheapest supplier.

Not a "blingy" as braided, but easy to work and keep clean.

I must admit I didn't get on with that at all. It was extremely difficult to get the hose on without damaging it, and of course it can't be removed from the fitting afterwards without cutting it off, which is a pita if you ever need to rearrange things afterwards. Good quality hose and conventional clips are much easier to use imo.

Did you try WD1 on the fittings?

No, never heard of it, what's WD1? I just followed the advice from Think Auto, who supplied the hose and fittings.

I used the Aeroqip push on ones too. The tech spec on them is actually very good. The larger -12AN JIC fittings can be a nightmare to get on..but softening them with some warm water and using the proper assy lube helps enormously...
