LS Fly by wire throttle

Got a couple of questions re the placement and shortening of an LS fly by wire throttle, for any builders using the one supplied by Jeff (or Jeff himself)

1. I want/need to shorten it and wondered how much you guys have taken off. I'm guessing around 4"?
2. I've panelled behind the pedals and intended to fix the throttle assy using rivnuts. I'v already actually done this but I'm not sure how durable this will be, whether it's best to remove part of the panel and make a plate with bolt running through?

Any suggestions?

I have not done this and indeed plan to run my LS on a mechanical system but i cannot see rivnuts being strong enough!! i would definately bolt it through.

In principle the rivnuts should be OK as there are not many forces being applied unlike a clutch or brake mechanism.
However if you have only used a couple of M4's then it will fall off.

Yup, What I did was shorten the assy to coincide with the finished position of the other pedals.

I mounted the unit on the 'skin, packed it out with an ally block the same thickness as the frame so it sat overlaping the top frame with the bolts passing through the ally just below the frame secured with nut and bolts.

I was then in a position after cutting the lever about half way to overlap and adjust till it was right, then removed the surplus and made bolted brackets for both sides of the lever to 'sandwich' the shaft thus if I ever need to lenghten/shorten I can easily!

I think I'll cut out part of the panel and replace with some thick ally which I'll bolt the throttle to, will be more durable.

The factory supply a bracket that fits to the top of the bulkhead, and is connected to Ultima pedal via linkage, hiding it out of the way.
resonably well priced and easy to fit, all forces go against the direction of pedal travel, making it quite strong.
If Jeff uses Corvette pedal as Ultima do, take off just enough to fit under front of cockpit shell. about 4" will be close.
Any idea where to get the leads for the pedal? are they part of engine harness?

I'm using Jeffs Drive By Wire pedal assembly without any mods and it seems to fit coincident to the other pedals too. It hinges from the top..but you wouldn't know that from driving position. I made a spacer to support the bracket to the top (into the fglass bulkhead) but the lower mount (into the chassis) seems very strong on it's own. (it was bolted all the way through BTW)

I'll see if I can dig a pic out.

BTW I had to extend the loom to the pedal as it was designed for LHD and I'm RHD. Easy job though.
