replacement end for door strut

During my build process my passenger door was knocked forward causing the nylon ball at the end of the door strut to strip out of the threads. I can but it back in and it will work for awhile but then come off again. I finally found the replacement end from Mc Master Carr who have an online service. the part number is 9416k86 $1.29 EA. I hope that this might help. Lee

Lee, Paul, and others. Sounds like I have broken the opposite end of the door strut. Any idea where I might be able to find the part that is broken in the attached photo?

I had (created) the problem with both left and right struts. The metal eyelets are surely more durable than the nylon eyelets that came with the struts.

discultima: In an round of talk about this very thing last year someone suggested a metal replacement for the end. Then the factory reminded me that if the plastic piece didn't break what would go next. The answer is the top hinge assembly. This would be really really bad. lets face it with people unfimilar with doors that open like these if you spend any time at all in public with a door open somebody will back into it and cause a problem the plastic replacment is $ 1.29 when I bought mine I ordered 4 and I would rather replace that item 40 times versus the upper hinge getting broken once. Just a thought . lee
