FYI,
I'm converting my 350 chevy from carb to Megasquirt Fuel injection, mainly as a project to learn about FI. I know alot of you guys have "stalling under braking" problems, i tend to get "stalling going round corners" problems (see my profile, you will understand!).
I'm going to be modifying a Edelbrock Victor JNR manifold, and using a holley carb as a throttle body. (best thing for it!).

It's been around a while and seems pretty good. Are you making your own circuit board or buying it ready to use? Look for any updates as well.

Made it myself, just followed the instructions step by step.
Its all up and running on the stimulator (kinda emulates the entire car!) - so i can play with the tuning software in the comfort of my arm-chair.

Hi,

I've been lurking on the MegaSquirt and EFI32 lists for a while. I'm also looking to have a go at squirting the SBC in my Ultima. I'm leaning towards buying the manifold, throttle body and other hardware for a Holley Commander 950 MPI system though rather than modifying a carb intake though. I love what you're doing to the Holley carb on your website to turn it into a throttle body!

WRT the the carb, unless you *like* tinkering it maybe easier to simply buy a proper 4 barrel throttle body.
The main problem is that its a vacuum secondary and you need to hook up a mechanical progressive linkage, which took me a few hours of thinking,
Plus you need to hook up a throttle posistion sensor (TPS).

The Manifold converstion will be done by my dad who does this sort of thing all day long, so once weve done the first one, we can do them for others.

I did wonder whether you might have issues with idle air control (if you want to fit it). I guess that there must be quite a few convenient vacuum taps you could fit a fast idle solenoid to if you needed. That could be the downside of buying the bolt on bits from Holley. I guess I'll have to do without IAC by blanking it off or somehow figure out how to drive the undocumented stepper motor.

I've seen quite a few carb intakes that have been modded to take multi point injection. Are there advantages to doing this other than the cost do you think? I guess they might flow air better than a purpose built MPI manifold like the Holley or Edelbrock???

Many people on the megasquirt list dont bother with Idle control. I wont either initially, but if it becomes a problem i will add a solenoid on the butterflies or a air valve.

I'm modifying a carb manifold becuase its what i can get my hands on (in UK), and it seems that people seem to do it all the time. If you study the edelbrock/holley manifolds enough, you will notice that they are pratically identical to carb ones.

Take a look at:www.hotrodsolutions.net/IntakesEFI.html for many more pictures.(be sure to click on 'next page' right at the bottom)

I'm considering a weiand 142 supercharger in the future also, megasquirt supports ~14psi out of the box. Main problem is that i dont think there's enough room to fit port injectors to the manifold, so may need to go back to throttle body injection or something.
