Hello,

I have problems with my LS2 motor. The ECM (computer) sometimes goes in a limp mode and is not taking commands from the acceleration pedal till errors like “lost connection to throttle body” in OBDII are deleted.
It’s not funny while overtaking the full acceleration is going down to slightly over idle speed.
I got a LS2 motor with LS2 electronic throttle body, LS1 computer and TAC module from censored two years ago.
Now I got the information that the LS1 computer (Operating system: 12587603), TAC module and acceleration pedal are not compatible with the LS2 throttle body and this leads to the limp mode.
I want to have the LS1 computer changed into a LS2 computer (“E40”) but censored is not answering on my emails. A friend of mine is waiting for answers from censored since months.

I really want to resolve all problems before next summer.
I assume that I have to buy the new computer, acceleration pedal and harness from my own money.
-> Where can I buy these parts for a good price?

Thanks for your help.

Regards
Oliver

If you censor names how can people make judgements from who to buy their products?? Someone else could also buy from this person and also not get a good service.

Agreed. Also gives the seller the chance to put across their side of the story.

Edit to add.

This sounds like you have a standard ECU? I've heard this can cause these problems as the ECU gets a different response from the engine in a 1000kg Ultima than it would in it's 1500kg originally intended car, so it goes into limp mode. Not sure how accurate this is, perhaps Boosted or Jeff can comment?

^ This isn't really my subject as I would either sell a complete package of matched parts or an engine alone with/without a DTA or similar. I do have a reflashed E38 ecu and a new ultima harness but that probably won't help. Sounds as if the OP needs an ls2 computer as an ls1 item was never designed to be fly by wire. An ls2 pcm shouldn't be to much but it needs various functions disabled for a non GM installation.

Hello Andy,

which type is it (E38 or E40)?
I have a 24 tooth reluctor wheel and need an E40 ECM.

Oliver - sorry mate I haven't got a clue :-) I am going to the workshop on Friday and will check and let you knnow. It is a bog standard ECU from a standard LS2 engine.

I know the ECU is good because it is part of a complete drivetrain but I am afraid after that I am lost. I will check the type / model and let you know late onn Friday if you like ?

I went for an LS1 ECU + cable throttle body on my LS2 to avoid such problems.... maybe that is also an option?

You should just be able to flash a calibration for a 24 pickup into any e40. You just need to know what vehicle came with 24 tooth crank and the e40. Maybe an early HSV LS2.
But I think you should just use a cable throttle and be done with it. Im at PRI otherwise would look up what OS you could flash in for cable in that ECU.
As for the ecu 'knowing' the car is lighter that's wrong. However there are tables to detect airflows against sane values which in a mod engine might need touching up.
