Receieved a GT2 box from Jeff S a year ago + LS7 engine (thanks Jeff), and only got to installing it recently.

I found however that it did not come with a clutch fork or slave cylinder, although I got everything else, release bearing clutch etc.

Not sure if this was my fault or an oversight, however water under the bridge!

Jeff's very helpful but busy as usual so I did wonder if I could source the fork and slave cylinder in the UK to save time, but I am told there are may variants.

Any experts out there who know what and how I can find the right items?

I am a bit stimeyed till I can get these....

cheers

There are some porsche parts shops online that sell bits like this with complete exploded views of the parts to help make sure you are buying the correct bits.... I dont have the links on this pc anymore but I only found them via a google search.

Keith you could try speaking/mailing PorscheApart, google search them. A late model porsche breaker.... the two lads in the office seem to know the brand inside-out. Great with original part numbers etc and loads of stock last time I was in there. (Apart from the G50-50 they had just sold!)

Hi, forget scratching round and ring Kevin of Classic cars on 01257 792006.
He has been working on Porsche cars exclusively for 25 yrs, and can get whatever you need quickly and at a very reasonable price. His wife is a Porsche trained gearbox technician to boot.biggrin

Please take a look at the attached link. It might help you identify the parts you need to acquire. I think DC Auto is a recycler, but I have found their website to be a good source for part numbers and so on. I also have a G96-88 transaxle. The G96, fork and other parts came from Powerhaus II here in the states.

Hi David,

I now feel a right prat!

The GT2 box I thought I had ordered and received has turned out not to be a GT2 box at all!

I am a numpty on these boxes anyway....wouldn't know the difference if it slapped me in the face!

Got what I thought I asked for (the box) and the engine which arrived just over 12 months ago and generally v pleased. I have no idea how the confusion arose.

I don't have clue what happened, but now I am doing a dry-fit, on checking the numbers I find it is a G96/50 which is as ai understand it a converted 4wd to 2wd box with lots of extras like higher 1st, steel synchros and lsd. Hopefully it is a strong as a GT2...If it is, I really don't care that much.

...but heres the rub... No Clutch fork assy, no slave, which I, not that experienced in these things, would have thought comes in the package!

The real prob is that the fittings for the slave is somewhat unusual cos of the bolt hole positions ie designed for the turbo slave and these little beauties are absolutely HUGE, and have lots of extra ports on them for coupling to the braking system!

Seems that from where it originated now re-machine the slave area to accept std GT2/3 slaves (with a bolt each side of the main hole), but only started this mod later on after my box was sent out, so I understand!

No good to me now though...They are in the states and I am in old blighty!

{Sigh!} So now I wait for an outcome, all depressed like!... can't continue my build.weeping

X fingers it all works out!

Sorry for the confusion and for wasting your time.

cheers

Hi Keith

I also have a G96/50 which as you say is from the 996TT. It is pretty much the same as the GT2 and GT3 just slight differences. Seems strange that Jeff did not include the clutch fork and slave in your package. I would of thought he would be your best route to get the parts you need. I use a TOB(Throw Out Bearing) in my setup so no fork needed. My G96/50 below.

Good to know Dave,

Yeah, I found that the the TOB route would be an option, however a single-plate clutch and thrust has already been supplied, and am I right in understanding you need a multi-plate assy? What clutch and stuff do you use?

...and how do you find it?

This might just be the cheapest option for all concerned as the fork assy on its own is over £150+ I think, and thus no need for slave or fork as I understand it?

Cheers

Hi Keith

As long as its a push type clutch then you could use a TOB. It doesn't matter that you only have a single plate.
I have a setup supplied by Andy at Garder Douglas. It uses a triple plate organic clutch made by Super Clutch in the UK. The TOB comes from a Saab and the mount for it is custom made by GD. You possibly use there mount and use a different TOB if necessary.
My setup works very well. I was a little worried at first as the clutch plates are not sprung at all. In practice however it modulates just fine. It's bites a bit more than the old setup but then it would with a cover plate rated at 900lbs.
GD do two clutches, one rated at 750lbs and the one I have at 900lbs.

A pic of the clutch below.

This is a pic of the clutch mounted to the flywheel and the ring gear bell.

The flywheel is tiny and a lot lighter. The whole package works very well.

Regards Dave

PS If you fancy a chat about it send me a mail and I'll send you my number.
