who offers the best Insurance???

I am sure that this has been covered many times before, but cannot find any info using the search button!
Now that my car is down on four wheels I thought I should start thinking about insurance.
Who offers the best cover / deals etc. Should one go for agreed values, limited mileage etc. etc.

I had real problems with others, during my build, but these seem to know their stuff, were hassle free (for me-so far!)
Can't comment on being the very cheapest, but certainly not bad - they seem to have a good reputation.

..having said that, you only find out how good they are, when you have to make a claim ! Lets hope that's NEVER!

Hi Dave,

Yep they do build policies as well. If you finish your build within the year, the remaining balance is offset against your road policy as well.
They will require pictures of certain stages of your build, and it is an agreed valuation as well.
My car is still covered with a build policy. Hopefully i will be renewing with a road policy in April.

yep im sure they do a build up policy, i was told by one of the guys there that one chap was building his Ultima and a tree fell on his garage in mid build..... oops

Yes quite, and that is where his problems began, if I remember.
Didn't he have a struggle getting them to replace certain bits rather than repairing, or am I thinking of someone else?

As already mentioned, it's not until you make a claim that you know how good they are.

Not sure how it works in the UK nowadays, but here in the US many (if not most) of the insurers exclude track events. With the popularity of the High Performance Driving Events (HPDE) the non coverage has been extended to include in many cases 'any on track event'. Hagerty had exclusions from what I recall, so check the policy coverages if you track the car regularly.

One insurer I contacted excluded insurance cover even if the car was at a track parked in the paddock.

My cars are insured through American Hobbyist for this sole reason as their waiver was specific to "timed or competitive racing"

Haggerty get my vote too. Not quite the cheapest, but very knowledgeable and agree up front how much it will be for each track day. Interesting that I have saved up many years of no claim bonus on 2 cars and I found out with them that they're not worried about NCB - just judge things on your recent driving history.

and......... if you have Hagerty full insurance, you are FULLY insured to drive any other Ultima insured with Hagerty!

I was with MSM and had very good service and they knew the make. On renewal they were not able to match Hagerty. It was so much different they were not able to price match.
