dont go too mad, you want to be able to use it again rather than find a pile of bits in the centre of the garage c/o Mr Salt........ How many builders protect the Alloy sheeting??...I know GTRSimon had his anodized

Was that the second run, taking your fiancee for a drive or the final one?
Either way the downwards road was icy so no chance for heroics but cool if someone finally captured the 'Flames'
(I think though you may have video evidence of me taking a little toooo long to tighten the shoulder/chest straps on your lovely Fiancee though

I actually went to ultima with the original owner of that car to help load the unbuilt chassis onto a trailer at the factory for the trip up to Blackpool.
Was also around for the build too when it had the original V6 cosworth engine installed beleive it goes very well on the vette engine.
Nice to see it getting some use :-)

It's a real shame what happened to the original owner, i've misplaced his details (he'd asked me to keep in touch about the car - his treasure) but please tell him it's being used extensively and just had 5K's worth of work done on it by the Factory (new brakes, suspension, bits n bobs etc..). The original owner and builder of v6 ult is a licensed aircraft engineer.
He basically had to give up the car due to medical reasons...real shame.
He used to take it to le mans and I went one year was a great experience to be a passenger blasting down the mulsanne<sp> straight in the ultima :-)

oooh, sorry, just realised i was called in!!
Yeah, we used to use monel metal rivets to keep dissimilar metal corrosion to a minium, also used to use a jointing compound, raf designation jc50 i think, we all called it yak s
t, or there's another variety we called smurf st. I'll chase them up, might be an advantage in our weather!!

I think I have some 1/8th, blind, Monel pop-rivets..... they are real hard little things, the drill can scate all over them when you try to remove them!
Got em when we restored an Auster for the ally front skin to mild steel firewall joint.
Hmm might be good to do the lower section/exterior panelling with?

although ours were anodised purple too, I didn't use them that much, more huck-bolts and jo-bolts. wings are kinda hard to nail back together!!

Yeah, the JC number quoted next to the trade name is actually the MOD name of the product (stands for joint compound, us forces are a bit slow sometimes)
I'm ex raf, I used both of them a lot, celloseal sets quite hard usedful if in the open air, as in our earth bonds, but JC5C (yellow one!) stays wet and forms a good barrier, useful for blind rivets
