A close shave!!! Be careful out there!

I was up in court on a speeding offence on Wednesday this week.
This was form a speeding offence committed back in July last year when I went to a charity event with two other Ultima owners (Kyle and Martin). It was one of the few sunny days we had last year. I was recorded doing 98mph in a 60mph limit. Easily done in an overtaking lane with over 700lbs of torque on demand. The summons arrived on the saturday before christmas which was nice.
Being already on 9 points and a potential 6 points on the way I have been very worried. I employed a barrister from Nick Freemans (Mr loophole) company to help my situation. The barrister managed to save my bacon! I drive some 40,000 miles a year for my job, and would have been sacked if I received a ban.
As I have no dependants I could not use extreme hardship to keep my job as even if I lost my job and house the court just class this as 'tough luck'. We did use the grounds of extreme hardship but with regards to my company and the loss of me and how it would effect the business.
So the outcome! I did not receive a ban but I now have 15 points on my licence! I also received a fine. I consider myself very lucky and without appointing a barrister the situation could have been very bad. So I'll be living on a knife edge for the next three years.
Be carefull out there chaps these cars are so easy to drive fast!

In Sweden the police take your license directly on the road (if 30 km/h over). You get a temporary license so you can drive home and park your vehicle for the coming 3-12 months... no varning no point no court
From my own recent experience Dom the 'producer and subsequent docs from court' cover the 'notice of intent period'... or whatever the correct wording was. I think the timescales therefore only apply if purely caught on camera and not actually stopped at the scene!
You managed to remain mobile Dave......which is probably one of your best bits of news over the last few weeks.
Just the preparation and processing of these issues is a real pain, in many respects more distracting and stressful than the actual day itself!

Big relief, I'm sure, but as you say, so easy to blast thro' the ton barrier for a second or two when overtaking. 15 points must be some achievement, I had 12 points once, and had to be very careful as it would have cost my job. It's one reason I try to keep the car mostly for track days where you can boot it fairly safely, unless you're LuckyP on an icy track.
Ouch poor sod..... I went to Court Here in Ca, was doing 39klms over the limit. Saw a guy in a small room before you go into the court, kind of a ple Bargainer....
Should have been 4 Demerits (Points) and $255 fine, but bargained it to 3 and $120. Basically apologised and said I wasn't concentrating on the speedo..
Still 12 Demerits here like the UK but they Leave after 2 years...
PS Dave I thought the UK Points now take 4 years to clear ??? Safe driving bud....

True the points do take four years to clear from your licence, but the 'totting system' as they call it only counts for three years. How's that car of yours coming along?
