Ultima seat covering

Following my comment in the other thread.
Does anyone know how the seat covering is secured?
I need a little more padding in the seat base and assume the covering is just glued down but don't want to go ripping it in an attempt to fit some foam.

Dont know if this helps Steve but several years back I watched a well respected local trimmer use a wallpaper steamer to soften cured trim adhesive. Even when he completely re-trimmed an old classic he would dismantle the trims to use as patterns, as opposed to just ripping them to pieces! He wore welding gloves and merely used the open hose to direct steam around the edges/bonded areas, he then seperated the mating surfaces with a narrow pallet knife. (i.e. having removed the big plastic pad from the steamer)

Steve, I bought the seats untrimmed (and they still are..)
they are simply nicely made glass fibre shells, with the foam/leather stitched together and stuck onto the fibre glass.
cant see any other way of fixing the stuff on..

Hi Steve,

I had to modify my seat to miss the gearchange shaft as I ordered a wider seat. The leather is simply stuck to the seat with (I think) a hot glue gun. I simply peeled back the leather, cut what I needed to out of the corner of the seat, then pulled the leather back round and secured with a hot glue gun. Very easy and looked as good as new when I finished.

Personally I would have a go myself. You can always take it to a trimmer afterwards to fix if you mess it up!!! :-)
