SBC going to LS2, what issues?

Hi all,
Despite having the GTR up for sale I can't help considering some more 'stuff' to do to it.
Basically I've been offered an LS2 motor for a good price so wondering what would be needed to 'drop' it in to my GTR.

I'm pretty sure the current motor an LT5, replicates the SBC so may be easier to consider the project as an SBC to LS2 right? (hope you're still with me on that).

Anyhow, what would be needed?
I'm guessing the adapter to G50 is the only big thing. My G50 has a starter motor so don't think that needs changing.

LS2 comes with wiring loom and ECU as well but not sure if it's drive by wire, I don't think so.

Any ideas on what would be needed?

PS, would i need custom headers or does the factory system fit an LS2? Actually, there's a big cost right there!

fuel pump and filters
swirl pot
inlet manifold spinning round 180 degrees
fly by wire throttle setup
what reluctor wheel does the LS2 have??
ECU remapping and lots of features switching of ie central locking, alarm etc etc
engine mounts (adaptors)
serpentine belt system
adaptor plate is different but readily available, flywheel and clutch
fuel lines
water pipes are different


why are you swopping a 400bhp for another 400bhp engine?? unless you have lots of other plans for it??

GM Performace Parts now sell complete LS crate engine controller kits.
The kits includes ECU, wiring harness and electronic throttle pedal. These controller kits are intended for use in retofits and engine swaps. The additional features that you would normally have to modify and turn off if using a production ECU have already been removed.

Ah, well a chap I know can supercharge them up to 650 for not much dosh!

The LT5 can't be supercharged or turbocharged, the only thing I can do is port/balance etc.. and that'll give 450-480bhp.

Don't know what's wrong with me really, I've got a 'wish list' for the GTR that runs to 18k and despite having it for sale I'm still working my way through it.

Ah, well a chap I know can supercharge them up to 650 for not much dosh!

hows he going to supercharge it that then?? You wont be able to take a standard LS2 to 650bhp without internal modifications. That again will increase your costs.

Rapid GB but that's at a cheaper rate, not sure about 'public rates'

the fuel side of things should be ok, provided your current system is working well with you LT1 as its already an injected lump.
air cleaner may be able to be adapted as well.
