I pulled my motor this weekend and being that the process is not exactly fun I though i might as well replace the clutch while I am in there. I am using a Kennedy pressure plate and a stock Porsche disk at the moment. No slipping issues with 515 rwhp. What to people recommend in a clutch set up. New motor should put out about 700 rwhp.

Dear Mark,

sorry to hijack your thread, but I have seen that you laminated your CANAM dash board with carbon fiber.
I have thought about this too, because the orange gelcoat would probably create reflections in the windscreen.
The question now would be if your glossy carbon fiber coating is still causing reflections ?

Mark: Call Rob Smith at RPS 818 993 9174. He is a friend, makes some very nice stuff. I was tempted to use his clutch the first time but decided to wait until first replacment. Did not want any out of the box problems on the intail install. Lee

After I sanded down the resin on the carbon I sprayed it with automotive clear coat. It's pretty reflextive but it's never been a problem. I have much more of an issue with the gauge lights reflexing off the windsheild at night. Here is an outside picture of the dash somebody took.

Hi Mark

This the clutch I am using in my setup. By the time I have finished playing with the supercharger this year it will be in the same power area as your new motor.

The setup is supplied by Gardner Douglas www.gdcars.com

It uses their own flywheel, ring gear and bell. The clutch itself is from Super Clutch here in the UK. It is a triple plate organic. It is not sprung but can be modulated OK. The clutch is rated at 900lb/ft. It is 7.1kg (15.62lb) lighter than the standard setup.

The first pic is just the clutch. The second pic shows the clutch fitted with the flywheel, bell and ring gear.

Hi spatz

The only thing for me that let the package down was the fact that the four studs that hold the belhousing to the adapter plate were just bare metal. I had mine plated as I think they would have soon rusted.

Regards Dave

Edited to add this pic.

I just took them to my local electroplaters. It's a bright zinc finish and they only charged a few pounds. Well worth the money. Before I took them to be plated I cut the thread a little further on the end going into the adapter plate. I did this to allow me to fit some half nuts on the back of the plate.

Hey Mark....

I like the "BRA" switch on the right.

Does the bra come off when the switch is off?

Do you have one for "KNICKERS" too

New motor is a forged 383 ls1. Sometime my good looks aren't enough and I have to flip the bra switch. 60% of the time, it works every time.

Hi Mark
Yes it will work with your G50/50. The GD setup will run with any G50 trans. I run a G96/50 from a 996TT which uses the G50 belhousing.

Dave,

did you cut the lower portion of your gearbox adapter or was it delivered this way?
No problems without the two lower mountings?
