Who was in the ultima at donington on sat 1st?
Discussion
I know who you are now. You're the guy in the red Porsche who almost took me out in the braking zone at Redgate.
And there was me thinking that the organisers said "do your overtaking on the straights, not the braking area".
I love track days. There's always somebody who thinks that they're Juan Pablo Montoya, and because you're in a race car you're fair game for them to drive like idiots.
Top tip buddy. When I'm racing, I'm racing, and I play by racing rules. When I'm on a track day, I'm having fun, and I play by track day rules.
I suggest you do likewise.

At the moment also im pretty busy too, ioll get back to you guys later today or get the driver to put in his proverbial two cence, if i can track him down
(the driver was a chap called Gareth, Oulton Park driving instructor and competes yearly in the Nurburgring 24hr)

I wouldn't bother about tracking anybody down. At the time, I put it down to a bit of red mist based overexuberance on the part of somebody who wasn't listening at the briefing.
If I'd had an issue with it, I'd have made my point in person on on the day. That's what most people do, rather than waiting a week and then posting cryptic comments on a public forum full of people who know both me and my car.

James,
Its a shame we could not have a proper word without these chaps interupting, however as is the case public forums are just that public, if you feel the need, Id be more than happy to give you my e-mail (XXXXXXXXXXX Edited out by moderator) or ill send you one?
I think it just boils down to the fact that I was actually on the pit wall watching saw you come out of the chicane rather quickly with Gareth following you rather closely, I remember you pulled to the right, and gareth pulled to the left of the straight and from what i saw attempted to overtake.(turbos at full song etc etc) As is the case with two obviously fast cars straights have a tendency to run out rather quickly! And as such i could see you had to take the racing line just as soon as you were overtaken. In doing so I remember Gareth stating that he was forced onto the farthest extremeties of the track.
Perhaps you had not reckoned on being ovetaken? I cannot say, that is why i have tried to find you for some clarification/open dialogue.
Please dont attempt to belittle our car by calling it "Rough", or imply that we would crash it in any future trackdays, lets keep things above board and clear the air a bit.
Its staggeringly obvious we both enjoy performance machinery and track days, lets keep that in mind and try and keep some proper dialogue going, infact my original post was somewhat misleading, and i apologize for that, like you said its a trackday guarantee that something like this has happened,
all the best

I was also only there for a short time. A combination of factors including a dead tow car meant that I didn't arrive until 3pm, and we only had one session before the clutch decided to die
That might explain why you didn't see me there.
Adam,
I've replied to you offline. If you hadn't wanted "others chaps to interfere", maybe you shouldn't have posted to a public forum.
I wouldn't belittle a Rough Porsche. I think they're very nice cars. I think you were a bit daft to let a racing school instructor out in it though. They're famous for ragging the arses off punters cars. Expensive car with no responsability! Whoopeeeeee

Actually, did you know that it's possible to buy a drive in the Nurburgring 24hrs with a local team for about £2,500? Wouldn't be competitive, but with all those classes who knows where you'd be! Temped...
Anyway you can't be that fast - look, here's a picture of you being overtaken by a Boxster on the straight on that very day... www.pikeynet.com/03/11/01/firework005.jpg (Yes I do have a picture of everything in the world!)
