Ultima GTR cost?

I've checked the Ultima website and I'm still a little confused as to how much the damn thing costs in kit form. I've tried looking around on other websites for answers, but all I get are replies along the lines of "go check website".

Anyway, my question...

The Ultima website says that the kit costs £15931. Does that include all of the necessary parts to get it running? I'm asking this because there's a list called "GTR Accessories" right below the kit prices. Are all the parts in this accessory list optional? I mean, they sound pretty important to me. All I'm concerned about right now is building one that runs. I can replace the parts with higher performance ones later on.

That's the basic price for an almost rolling chassis.

You need on top of that wheels, windscreen, wiper, seats, instruments, steering wheel, lights, heater or A/C, engine, fuelling system and gearbox (off the top of my head)

All kitcar companies have the same problem. If they put wheels and tyres in the kit price someone will complain that they have to pay for something they didn't want because they had their own ideas on wheel/tyre choice. If they leave them out then someone says the company are trying to trick them with a low kit price.

You will waste money if you buy low spec and replace later.

As a guide I would say you are looking at £52-55K to build a Chevy small block engined car of about 400-500HP and decent spec.

No. You can buy every single component, nut, bolt and washer from the factory if you wish, though it's not unusual for people to buy the engine/gearbox independently. Even then, you'll probably end up using the factory ancilliaries (adaptor plate, fuel pumps etc.etc.etc.)

This is off topic, but I just had to check your profile (because you're the Stig) and noticed that you built a GTR and a Can-Am only to sell them later on. Why did you do that?

To maybe help answer your original question, as Steve.D says you will need to budget £50k+ to get close to a decent spec car. You really should include (GTR)

Air Con (defo)
AP Brakes
Ultima seats
Ultima dials (or Stack type which will cost more)
Accusump
Full cage
Rear Wing

£1,500 - £2k for a G50 'box
£6-8k Engine

I know there were some costings spreadsheets that people were prepared to offer giving realistic costing.

many people build more than one car for a whole load of different reasons... currently there really isnt an alternative to an Ultima in the UK IMO... its the mix of the quality and uniqueness of the car... so once you have built an Ultima and inevitelly sell it on, you are faced with what to build next.... often its another Ultima!

to answer your thread question, I think that you could get a car on the road for £40k, but you will have to hold onto your budget strings quite carelly... I started out with a budget of £28k based on the factory build spreadsheet they had at the time and spent £50!
I know of people that have spent nearly £100k.

50-60K isn't that bad, although I don't have that much on me at the moment. I suppose I'll buy the chassis right now, and then buy the rest of the parts later on.

Also, can someone please link me to the spreadsheet? I'd like to have a list of the parts I'll be needing.

This summer mate. I hope before Le Mans but I'm not sure the car will have been fully sorted for that trip, I'm not sure. Depends on the lead time for the new SVA. I am hoping to be in a position to apply for that in the next couple of weeks.

If you are going to apply to Southampton they have a very short lead time. Mine was about 2 weeks for the Dakar.

An out of date spreadsheet that was posted by an Owner many moons ago:

Good choice.
Are the factory going to inspect it? I'm sure it helps when it goes for SVA because the factory mark the things they inspect so when the SVA man sees the marks there has to be less for him to do.
