Having just taken my car out for its first outing there are a number of issues with the engine that I would like to get fixed, namely: running on when switching off, lumpy running and stalling in traffic and finally back firing through the carb!
Any one recommend a good man in the south who could iron out these issues and set-up the car for road usage.
Thanks
David

Probably just been leaned off for SVA David (and then forgotten about)......nothing too difficult but get it resolved before it causes a problem. All the symptoms you describe fit this minor issue.
Cammy SBC's will need richer bottom end settings.

You could try Dave Griffiths at Interpro in Bristol, he was very good with my engine set-up when I went there.

The car is very rarely their! Always waiting for Lucky's , Crazy or the numerous other Ultima owners that hae decided to use him. Used to be a lot easier before you all found out about Charles!

Guilty as charged your Honour judgesmile

Talking of which, After returning the OE wheels to the car, the bump steer had completely vanished. Which is nice.....

Another one of Charles' magic tricks.

Yes should have kept my mouth shut!. However last few years a lot of development work has been done by Charles. His track setup work is a marvel. Although his workshop is small it could become a tourist venue, you will understand when you visit. He really is the man when it comes to engines and Ultima's

Well I picked up V8UCA from Charles Dunn this afternoon and what a difference!
The engine had been leaned off for the SVA, but Charles still found a few other things that needed attention, namely: 15 degrees out on ignition timing, Carb had wrong jets for the cam installed etc. etc. Air Con does not stall the engine any more, Charles installed a neat solenoid to the carb to hold the throttle when the AC kicks in, Now the engine ticks over very nicely.
Many thanks to the guys that suggested Charles, he is definitely 'the man'
