Hello All,
Does anyone have any info on the new Quaife 6-speed transaxle? Quaife claims it is good for 500bhp, and is a direct replacement for what sounds like the Getrag 996 porsche. If you go to Quaife's website you can select the "New Products" link. The price is around 7500 pound sterling. Any thoughts?
Cheers!

Hi Karlo,
I replied back to your email, but I guess you didn't receive it. I only own a sport and am not building another car. I love my sport by the way. I just love the back end of that car.
Cheers!

Mack,

I think youll find that the torque rating is the biggest problem. From memory it was realtively low.

Thats £7500 plus Taxs (US or UK bepending on destination) plus £900 for the gearlever and £350 for the didgital display on which gear your in......

It starts to add up.... for serious power a Hewland would be a better choice but they are more expensive.

I asked sbout a transaxle at this years Autosport show, they talked about this one and then quoted a torque figure that had me walking off of the stand before he'd even finished...

Has anyone heard of the GF-2000 Clutchless 5-Speed Transmission that supports more than 1300 HP and over 800 lb feet of torque? This transmission is sold by G-Force located in the USA (PA). It costs $7500 USD for the V-Gate shifter and $7900 USD for the long air shifter.

More info could be found here. www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gf2000.asp

GF2000 FAQ :-

Symptom: The transmission shifted from first to fourth gear when I pulled second gear.

Cause: Most likely you pulled the shifter handle too slow and/or got into severe tire spin or shake. When this happens, the selector pin in the shifter can fall down prematurely and will result in a missed shift. Even though it appears that you pulled second gear, you actually pulled fourth. The transmission WILL NOT go from first to fourth unless you shift it that way on the stick. A clutchless transmission MUST be held in gear (except 5th on some models) or it could come out of gear. It is even a good idea to hold a clutch-assisted transmission in gear at all times."

probably a daft question...

am i reading this right?? does it need to be held in gear by hand??
