Hello all,
My first post on the Ultima section.
Does anyone know of a black GTR that was recently written off (rear ended)? The car has a stack dash and what looks like a SC SBC.
I would like to know some more about the cars history and the damage suffered as a result of the accident.
Thanks

My reason for asking is, I have the opportunity to purchase the mentioned car. But I am currently working overseas and am unable to see the car in the flesh, I would like to attain some more information before committing to the purchase.
From the photos I have seen I would guess that the car was rear-ended, the rear clip and hinge points are damaged, the gearbox looks like it has taken the brunt of the impact. The rear gearbox mounts are bent, the gearbox casing has cracked local to the gear selector.
I understand that the car would be worth slightly less being cat D recorded, but I have always wanted an Ultima (been reading this section of PH for years) If the damage is limited to what I have identified by studying the photos then I think this car is a good project for me to tackle when I return to the UK.

From your description it sounds repairable. Depending on the price it may already be worth it in the value of the parts alone (rear tyre = £400). A G50 box has a separate 6" long housing at the back so you may get lucky and only have to replace that.
Understand now why you were, and still are, a little guarded about giving too much away.
Keep us posted.

Hi all, first post on site. Just wanted to say that I purchased the black sc gtr. I have removed engine and box and it will hopefully be off back to factory to have chassis repaired and new rear clam fitted. Plan afterwards is to convert to fuel injection and run off Emerald ECU. Has anyone experience of retro fitting efi, I am looking at getting boss inserts fitted to existing inlet manifold.
Thanks guys, car is off to the factory tomorrow to be repaired, hopefully will be as good as new when I get it back.
Have stripped engine down and found that the block (400) has a small crack between two of the core plugs (almost invisible) can anyone recommend method of repair, also which engine builders are recommended for these yank engines.
I am just about to get inlet manifold drilled for new injector bosses, has anyone gone this route?

Is the crack leaking? If not then possibly drill and tap some holes along the crack and fit some bolts. The thread will stop the two halves of the crack from moving. It may also be possible to weld the crack but this requires the whole area to be very hot so quite specialised.rs_man said:

As Wayne said...Peter knight. Also ask him about the block repair and the inlet.rs_man said:

There is a guy on PH who has done this on a SBC (SBC with twin turbos in a Dakar). He comes around here from time to time. Find him as Eliot or go to http://www.mez.co.uk/.Steve
