MOT on sat with the Spyder :-)
Discussion
Having to take the Spyder for it's MOT on saturday.. First place i took it too last week told me it had no chance of getting on the ramps so had to search elsewhere..
Anyway, i've found that Mercedes in chelmsford will do it as they have a full rolling road apparently :-) so might be able to give me an idea of power at the same time.
Only thing i was thinking, is how does the Ultima get through when it hasn't got a reversing light?
Graham - Now the car's all up and running as should i'll pop round at some point at take you for a spin...

A reversing light is not required to pass an MOT... But if there is one fitted it has to work!
no..........Sorry thats not exactly correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Im an MOT tester and an Ultima owner..
A reversing light and front fog lights are not tested in an mot, so even if fitted dont have to work, as the tester will not attempt to turn them on...
And even worse, the car does not even have to have lights fitted to pass an mot.... they used to call it a day time use only mot,but they dont even have those anymore, you just get an advisory saying you have no head lights or tail lights fitted.....but if fitted they must work...

when I took a spyder a couple of years ago for an MOT, it did not fit on the rollers so the garage took it for a brake "roadtest" with a small meter thing they lobbed into the footwell- all I can report back is that they (it took two of them to verify the test) came back with huge grins......its nice to have a friendly garage that use their heads to get a shot of a nice car.

Tapley brake meter which is also used for 4x4 vehicles and more importantly LSD.... If you guys have LSD or a locker diff, they should not be put on the rollers and tester individually anyway........Dom

Drove it for the first time in the wet and dark the other night and was supprised how easy it was... The following Porker discribed it as following a fleet of lorries there was that much spray..

Unfortunatly it failed...
Handbrake not working on drivers side rear wheel, and front right brake unable to lock up wheel.Headlight pattern not anywhere near where it should be and emmisions...
Other than that, all ok.. Chap was ok, said the brakes probably just need cleaning/adjusting along with the lights. Emmisions he said should be okish as it's probably exempt.. Cough cough.
Left it with them for a few days to get fixed..
