Hi guys I asked for a suggestion from the forum on something to do on this layover in London. The suggestion was made to attend the Brands Hatch master series this weekend. WOW, what a track. They used the long course and I walked the whole thing today. You guys are missing a bet if you don't declare that thing a national monument. Have any of you ever run the long or short course at Brands and is it as much fun as it appears. I did notice a couple of down hill turns that looked a little .....intresting. Back to Los Angeles in the morning. Thanks again for the suggestions. Lee

I seem to remember that LuckP did the GP circuit in his Ultima, and later racing in his MR2

Hi Rowdy,

Small world eh?
I was one of the two guys standing by the fence near where the yellow prototype went off the track right at the end of the event, you asked us for the best route back to Heathrow Airport, take it you got back ok then?

It was a great days racing definitely.

Pete.

I have done the Indy circuit a couple of times over the years but I don't really like the track itself and just don't feel at ease there, my problem, not the tracks wink. It is a great shame on the one hand as I only live about 60 miles from the circuit but on the other, it is bloody expensive yes
It is weird how we all seem to have a favourite track or two, I think it may have something to do with other outside influences that we may experience during the day or at the time.
Brands Hatch is indeed a monumental track and one of the countries favourites for sure, it is a shame that you were not in a position to experience it first hand from a driving point of view. I would love to drive at Laguna Seca but in reality the GTW is more likely to be on the road for more than 100 miles before that may ever happen ( and that is looking more and more unlikely with the passing of each and every day frown)

I think Lucky had a couple of vids on Youtube doing the long course, seem to remember him having a little bit of a chase with some kind of Porker.

Lee, glad you enjoyed it!

I bet it was a sight!!

Those boys sure know how to drive it!!

I was at Goodwood today in the Pork, playing tag with Louise we managed to keep the car out all day without a break!! Yippee!!

(cough) wheel lift smile

If you ever find yourself in the UK again give me a shout, I'm good for access to town (London) and willing to help out any Yanks who need a steer to the 'not-so-tacky' points of interest. smile

I have done the GP three times and the indy more - I just love Brands and it all makes me want to do it all again after a 10 year gap!

What a small world. Again thanks Pete, for the directions, I got back to London without a problem, outside I almost pulled out of the race track in front of somebody, because I looked the wrong way. That change of direction on the roads is a bh. Thanks to Lucky for the repost of the video. that was neat to watch after being to the track Monday. I walked all the way around the track and to see your in car was interesting. Also pete thanks for the invite to meet in London sometime. I get through London at least once a year. If you can mention the world helicopter at least once during dinner then I think it would definitly be a bizz dinner on me. I am sure after what I saw your P.M.s are up to that we could write off dinner against something. Lee

Nice catch at around 7.45mins in as well Lucky, looks like the GTR understeered then drifted.

I have driven Brands Indy circuit once in the Ultima and loved it. In 2006 It was my introduction to Motorsport being the first race I ever competed in.
2 races in the day both memorable. The 2nd race was a 45 min endurance event with 2 drivers and open to all the cars from the days racing including some very expensive historic race cars that were deceptively quick. I started from mid field but there was a big accident at the start that caused the race to stop. At the restart I joined the back of the grid because I pulled into the pits not knowing the correct procedure. We worked our way up to 3rd so got to stand on the podium on my debut race day.
I would love to race there again.
