Air conditioning
Discussion
My Land Cruiser air con has just stopped working after 14 years so I bought a can of gas from Halfords and charged it up ! Only took 5 mins . There is a gauge on the can telling you when to stop adding . A bit DIY but it worked for me . There is oil in the can as well but may not be enough for a first charge .
Have you ever charged it ?

Any decent A/C guy should be able to work out how much to put in.
The guy who did mine purged it three times before he was happy with the result and convinced himself that all the air was out.
Whilst the 'Halfords can' approach my be fine for a top-up I would get a professional to do the first fill.

A couple of years ago I moved the condensor on my Sports from the front to the side pod. When it was regassed they put in the recommended 800grams. The picture below shows the result (blown seal under the dash)

Fortunately it happened just after I'd got home, and not out on the road!
When it was redone they balanced the hi pressure and low pressure sides and ended up putting in somewhere around 400 grams I think, and it works fine. So I agree with Steve, go to someone who knows what they're doing and will take the time to get it right!
