Rear Engine glass / extended intake pics?
Discussion
Well, GTRClive suggested I ask if anyone else had pictures of their GTR with the clear glass over the engine, and also some pics of the extra long air intake. After seeing MGGTR's ultima, im in love with idea of having the engine bay viewable with the rear canopy on. That and the extended intake in Carbon Fiber. Those just make the car look 20x better, and I really want to try this on my build!

Well the Gentleman that was commissioned to do the alterations has been doing it for quite some time now. This is the first car that has been registered, (Apart from the GTW Which has the same shape but no window). Each mod was commissioned by different people over the last few years, and now what you see is the Culmination of lots of ideas from lots of Like minded Ultima Owners that wanted to improve on the Design and put there twist on a updated shape.
I have seen these alterations take shape on other peoples cars now for a few years, and decided to commission the said gentleman to build a new designed car around these updates and a completely new chassis. I intend to make new moulds of the updated shape and supply Kit's here in North America. Not one panel or original Ultima part will now fit my car.....

Check my blog and you will see some pic's and a list of updates I wanted......
Right better stop as this is close to the rules as I dare. PM me if anybody needs any information, or wants to contact the Gent in the UK to do these or any other Mods to the Original Ultima....

Totally agree with the update of design needed. Most modern supercars that are mid engine have the engine viewable from the top side of the car with the rear of the car still in place. I know some don't really want the engine to be seen, others would have issues with excess heat comming from turbos or high mount custom exhaust systems with possible discoloration or even melting the top glass. While others like myself would like to have it to show off my handywork. That and it would be nice to have at car shows as I could keep the lid closed and still have it on presentation to the judges and general public.
But then it is a kit car and we are given an incredible base to start with and modify from there as we see fit.

With an LS7 type engine, the exhausts come up at the back of the engine before crossing over the transmission. I imagine that in this type of set-up heat would be less of a problem avoiding the discoloration or melting of the Plexiglas Also coating the exhausts could help also. True, a turboed engine generates a fair amount of extra heat which would have certainly some negative consequences.Saw this Saleen twin turbo engined car with a plexi window. Nice looking and heat didn't seem to be an issue.
